The fragrance opens bright, fresh and undeniably green with fruity, tart and spicy nuances. Fresh, green and fruity elements continue with subtle floral and aquatic undertones. Lying in the cool grass, the sun and breeze alternate their embrace causing you to drift off in a peaceful sleep enhanced with warm woods, resins and musk. Courant Éternel is a very special and personal fragrance for me. The scent itself is inspired by my very first scent memory. It was created to reproduce not just the scent but the entire experience of exploring a seaside garden as a young child. Of course you have the natural flora of the garden with notes of Rhubarb, Dill, Raspberry, Basil and florals elements. We also attempted to recreate the feel of an ocean breeze, the warmth of sun on your face and even the earth below. This is a fresh, bright and vibrant fragrance that captures the essence of Spring and will be loved by both men and women.
Courant Éternel is a tribute to the love of God. In particular, His providence in bringing people into our lives. In this case, my mother, grandmother and my wife. The name itself comes from an old hymn. "Underneath me, all around me is the CURRENT of His love, leading onward, leading homeward to His glorious rest above."

When I first smelled the final version of our original Sidama fragrance I was struck by how perfectly it encapsulated what I wanted to express. The beauty and complexity of a natural process Ethiopian coffee tempered by the grassy and earthy elements of the growing region. I felt it was such a unique take on coffee, something that hadn’t really been done before. This likely contributed to its being an independent category finalist in the 2023 Art & Olfaction awards.
One additional thought stuck out to me at the time. I must create a semi-gourmand chocolate forward version of this fragrance. In researching this variation, I was intrigued by the history and cultural significance of the traditional Aztec drinking chocolate xocolātl. The process originally developed by the Maya involved fermenting cacao beans, letting them dry in the sun then grinding them before adding to hot water. The hot chocolate was often infused with spices like chili pepper or cinnamon and sweetened with vanilla or honey.
For Sidama X we elevated the boozy character of the original, while dialing back the coffee elements significantly. The rich, decadent and semi-sweet dark chocolate is the hallmark of this fragrance. I couldn’t help but add in a healthy dose of chili pepper spice to the chocolate. Rather than adding vanilla to this fragrance we utilized the more resinous, woody benzoin to correspond with the original. The final composition is decadent, spicy, woody and a bit boozy. It’s definitely sweeter than the original but tempered by the spicy, woody and resinous elements. Take a sip (not literally) or sniff and experience for yourself.

The crisp, fresh and pristine nature of a first snow is always memorable. This is particularly true in the mountainous regions of Japan. The multi-sensorial experience of a fresh wind through the unique majesty of Japanese pine and fir trees is a wonder to behold. With MizuKaze, literally “fresh wind” we wanted to bring this unique experience to our popular Musashi fragrance. If the original was associated with Spring, and Kensei inspired by fall, MizuKaze is definitely the winter inspired version.
Right off the bat we dialed up the cool and fresh elements with an invigorating trio of peppermint, rosemary and juniper. We added a truly unique blue ginger oil prized for its spicy citrus and floral character. Keeping in step with the cooling character we swapped the floral element to lavender. The tea we utilized for this is the delicate sliver needle white tea. This tea is made from the young unopened silvery downy buds of the tea plant. It was originally reserved only for royalty. Its aroma is delicate and floral in nature with a slight honey sweetness. The dry down is distinctly green and woody providing that quintessential evergreen freshness while the frankincense adds lift and complexity.
Is this the best iteration in the Musashi lineup? You’ll have to try for yourself, but it’s certainly the freshest!
